The media should emphasize to clarify, as this abbreviated exposition by professor Michael Schulz for the Swedish press.
“The Palestinian Authority has been divided for many years. In the Gaza Strip, Hamas rules, and in the West Bank the Fatah party, which is internationally recognized as the legal representative of Palestine.

Fatah is not a combatant in the war. The Palestinian Authority, led by Fatah, has often cooperated with Israel. The existence of the Palestinian Authority is maintained by contributing to maintaining Israel’s security.
Hammas was elected as the governing authority in the Gaza Strip. In 2006, Hammas won a majority of seats in the Palestinian Legislative Council elections. Following this election, they took control of the Gaza Strip in 2007, leading to a division between Hamas in Gaza and the Fatah-led Palestinian Authority in the West Bank. This division has persisted for several years, with Hamas effectively governing Gaza and the Palestinian Authority governing the West Bank.

That is why it is totally wrong to support their cause by those who want a free Palestinian state as they do not repress the total of the population.
I recently read this example in “the children of thoughtfulness” a book I am studying by Rabbi Kalonimus Shapira:
“Imagine if a fire broke out in a city and the firefighters came to extinguish it and save others in accordance with their knowledge and abilities. Would they detest and reject the other city residents who also work, in accordance with their abilities to rescue and extinguish the fire? Rather, all have the same purpose: to extinguish the fire and save those in the flames, and everyone works in accordance with their means. The collective is more successful than any individual.”
And I thought: Why do not the Palestinian people work together with Israel to help us get rid of Hammas?
Clearly, Hammas neither Hizbollah or the Houthis are the voice of the Palestinian people, these are terror organizations supported by the archenemy of Israel and the West, Iran, whose only objective is to have a Muslim caliphate reign over the world.
Looking back:

In 1947, the United Nations proposed a partition plan that aimed to divide the territory of British Mandate Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states, with an international administration for Jerusalem. The Arab League, rejected the partition plan and did not implement it. As a result, the Arab state that was proposed in the plan was never realized. Instead, Five Arab armies Egypt, Iraq, TransJordan, Siria and Lebanon entered in war with the new Jewish country, the conflict escalated into a full-scale war in 1947-1949, leading to the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948. The resulting absence of an independent Palestinian state and a situation of statelessness for many Palestinian Arabs.
Israel has tried in several occasions to come into terms with the people who were left stateless after the division in 1947. Moderate voices in the Palestinian world see Israel as a partner. Iran and its proxies don’t. Don’t be fooled.

Well and accurately stated. Why on earth can’t supposedly educated people understand this.
